Description

The decreasing viscoelastic modulus observed in older subjects reflects age-associated parenchymal liquifaction, which the authors describe as indicative of decreasing global integrity of the brain tissue. Viscoelasticity of the brain was measured via MRI and accoustic waves (multifrequency magnetic resonance elastrography, MSE).
