Description

Individuals were placed on a sway-referenced floor, in which a visual scene presented to an individual is moved in accordance with their sway, providing apparently stable vision even though the person is swaying and so creating a conflict between the proprioceptive and visual/vestibular systems. Older adults were found to exhibit perceptual inhibition under such conditions.
