Description

Proteomic comparison between primary-cultured neural progenitor cells from the young adult and aged mouse forebrain showed that there are changes in proteins necessary for cellular metabolism. The study showed that mitochondrial quantity and oxygen consumption rates decrease with age. A 45% decrease in JC1+ mitochondria/cell was observed in aged neural progenitor cells, compared with young adult neural progenitor cells.
