Blood interleukin 6 (IL6) level was significant higher in thirty-seven elderly subjects (median age, 87, range 70-95 years; minimum: 0.48 pg\mL, median: 1.61 pg\mL, maximum: 12.68 pg\mL) than in 22 young subjects (median age, 26, range 21-37 years; minimum: 0.24 pg\mL, median: 0.84 pg\mL, maximum: 2.31 pg\mL).
