Description

Fat mass, both the visceral and subcutaneous components, increases throughout adulthood, although it tends to decrease in advanced age, mainly due to the loss of subcutaneous fat. In the case of people with ages between 70 and 80 years, only individuals who gained weight had an increase in subcutaneous fat, whereas those who lost weight also lost subcutaneous fat.
