Description

Studies in industrialized countries indicate that in adulthood, there is a tendency towards an increase in body weight and BMI up until the age of 60-80, followed by a decreasing trend. The reduction is due mainly to the loss of fat-free mass, especially due to sarcopenia. Total body water and bone mass also decrease with age.
