Description

With increasing age, a significant diminution in the resting cardiac output could be observed. Subjects for these experiments were carefully screened to exclude any individuals with clinical signs of heart disease. Although a part of the diminution in output can be ascribed to a slight reduction in heart rate with age, and a small proportion can be attributed to a reduction in body size, there remains a significant reduction in stroke index with increasing age.
