    Description

Motor coordination decreases with age as assessed via the rotarod and beam balance tests. In the beam balance test, mice walk across an elevated narrow beam and coordination and balance are assessed via the speed of the mice across the beam and the number of slips they make. In the rotarod test, mice are placed on a rotating rod that spins at an increasing speed. Motor coordination is assessed via the length of time the mice are able to stay on the rod as the speed increases.
